Brownfield Redevelopment Authority

The Gaylord City Council established the City of Gaylord Brownfield Redevelopment Authority (BRA) in 2025 pursuant to the Brownfield Redevelopment Financing Act, 1996 PA 381, as amended (Act 381). The BRA was established to facilitate redevelopment of properties that are blighted, functionally obsolete, contaminated, or have the potential to increase the City’s attainable housing stock.

If you are interested in serving on the BRA, please fill out an application form and return the completed form to: City of Gaylord, 305 E. Main Street, Gaylord, MI, 49735. The application form may also be faxed to (989) 732-8266 or emailed to pischelt@cityofgaylord.org. Current vacancies are announced at City Council meetings when they arise, and the appointment process is detailed in the link under this section.

Member Expectations

  • Have general knowledge and/or understanding of the topics and issues reviewed by the board or commission that you are applying for.
  • Review material provided in advance of the meeting.
  • Engage in training activities when necessary.
  • Follow the parliamentary rules of the Board/Commission.
  • Attend regular meetings and special meetings, as needed.
