Street Laborer –Department of Public Works
The City of Gaylord has one full-time position available for a Street Laborer. This position, under the supervision of the Department of Public Works Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, will be responsible for performing a variety of unskilled or semi-skilled maintenance work, and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of City water, sewer, street, and storm drainage facilities and systems and in the performance of snow removal.
Desired Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
- Valid State Driver License and CDL Class B with air brakes endorsement or ability to maintain the proper CDL license within 6 months of employment.
- Knowledge of equipment, maintenance, and materials typically used in street labor and maintenance. Knowledge of the methods and procedures used in maintenance, construction, and repair activities.
- Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time; ability to work safely; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public; ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
Other Requirements: Resident of the City of Gaylord or of an area not more than twenty miles from the corporate boundaries of the City of Gaylord.
